Tett Centre Family Day Open House - February 19th

The Tett Centre is having a Family Day Open House from 10am-4pm. Enjoy a variety of hands-on, interactive art experiences, music and performances through out the building. All activities are by donation and some require pre-registration. n. Please note, schedule is subject to change. 

Some of the planned activities include:

  • Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club 

10am-11:30 am- Make Your Own Wire People with Beaded Gems
1pm-2:30 pm- Learn How to Create Mini-Gem Trees with Heather Kushum-Sheedy

  • Kingston Handloom Weavers and Spinners 

10am-4pm, Open Studio
Try out a mini-hand loom

  • Kingston Potters’ Guild (2nd floor)

10am-2pm, Potters’ Studio Clay Play

  • Malting Tower (3rd floor) - Kingston School of Dance

A Mid-Winter Celebration of Dance- Share the magic of dance in this family-friendly showcase for dance lovers of all ages! Dancers from the Senior Hip Hop, Senior Contemporary Company and Junior Contemporary Companies will present special performances. Étoiles Filantes Youth Ballet will bring the sparkle of a winter wonderland to the Malting Tower in their storybook ballet adaptation of the classic Russian fairytale, “The Snow Maiden.” Public performances are offered at 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. Donations gratefully accepted at the door. 11am-3pm - The Begin Again Group (B.A.G. Project)
Eco-friendly, vegan purses and designer bags, made out of recycled rubber. Every bag purchased will support newcomer women and their families. For more information, please contact: [email protected]

  • Tett Gallery (1st floor)

1pm-4pm - Create Your Family Tree 
Come and play, explore, create and be inspired! Join local artist, Danielle Folkerts, for a special Kids Creativity Club event in the Tett Gallery. Danielle will guide your family in an exploration of art mediums, including: painting, collage and drawing. For a $2-$5 donation, you can enjoy a variety of hands-on, creative arts activities. 

  • Rehearsal Hall (2nd floor)

11am-11:45am & 1pm-1:45pm - Musical Performances and Storytelling with Gary Rasberry. 

Gary is a JUNO-nominated children’s artist, who offers Song, Story & Sound Workshops and concert performances in schools everywhere. Gary’s album, “What’s the Big Idea?!?” (2013) was nominated for a JUNO award. His most recent children’s recording is called “The Very Next Day.”

  • Creativity Studios
11am-1pm - Art Corner with Ashley Brick
Fun, family-friendly art activities 
 
Please note, the Juniper Café will be closed on Family Day.
