City of Kingston News - September 12, 2017
Experience what it is like to put out a car fire, ride a fire truck or take the Firefit Challenge at Kingston Fire & Rescue's Community Day for the United Way. It's 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Regional Training Centre at 3 Terry Fox Dr. (just south of Highway 401 at Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard).
For a $10 donation to the United Way of KFL&A ($20 for the family), you can enjoy all the day's activities, including meeting Sparky. Kingston Fire & Rescue will be holding a barbecue and a food truck will also be on site.
"This is an active, fun and educational day out for kids of all ages. Last year we raised $2,200 in cool, wet weather and we are aiming to improve on that this year," says Fire Chief Shawn Armstrong. "Once again, I challenge Kingston's strongest residents to come try the Firefit Challenge – it's the toughest two minutes in sport!"
Armstrong notes that businesses are also invited to participate in the Corporate Firefit Challenge to take place that same day.
Businesses: This year, you get a chance to sign up for a unique, exclusive teambuilding opportunity through the Firefit Challenge. Find competition details and register your team of three to six people to participate by Sept. 20 for $150 donation by searching "United Way Community Day Kingston" on Eventbrite.
