The Firefit Challenge – also known as the toughest two minutes in sport – is an obstacle course containing firefighting tasks like running up a staircase in full firefighting gear, hoisting a fire hose and dragging a dummy to safety.
The Firefit Challenge is only one part of the Kingston Fire & Rescue Community Day:
Experience what it is like to put out a car fire, ride a fire truck or take the Firefit Challenge at Kingston Fire & Rescue’s Community Day for the United Way.

Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

3 Terry Fox Drive (just south of Highway 401 at Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard).
For a $10 donation to the United Way of KFL&A ($20 for the family), you can enjoy all the day’s activities, including meeting Sparky. Kingston Fire & Rescue will be holding a barbecue and a food truck will also be on site.
Here’s what’s going on:
- 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- o Put out a car fire
- o Tours of the training tower
- o Antique Fire Truck Display
- o Sparky and truck photos
- o Junior Fire Challenge (kids)
- o BBQ and Smokin Carnivore Food Truck
- 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Drive in a fire truck
- 11 a.m. – Firefit Challenge demonstration
- 11:30 a.m. – Corporate Firefit Challenge – the toughest two minutes in sport!
- 1 p.m. – Burn cell demonstration (sprinklered vs. unsprinklered)
- 1:30 p.m. – Participate in the Firefit Challenge
Donations will benefit the 75,000 Kingstonians who use a United Way-funded agency.
